I joined Crunch fitness on June 1st 2024 with a simple goal of getting off the couch and getting active again. I had spent several years at home eating like a varmint and drinking too much, with a job that does not require much physical activity, and found myself in the worst shape of my life. My dad needed to lose some weight for a possible lower back surgery and his doctor suggested giving up sugar and alcohol, so I agreed to do it with him to support his weight loss efforts. In just a few months of no sugar or alcohol, we both noticed results we were satisfied with, but I wanted to take it a little further, and decided to get back in the gym. When I signed up, I was asked what my goals were and I remember telling them “Im just here to get off the couch, so I plan on coming in and using the treadmill for several months until I create the habit of coming back to the gym, then I’ll slowly get back into working out, but I’ve never been big on that.” In that moment, everything changed, because I was simply asked “why”. Why would I want to go to the gym just to walk on the treadmill?! I was then asked if I had ever considered working with a personal trainer, and the more I thought about it, the more it sounded like something I would consider. Long story short, I agreed to 3 months and they told me when I came back in they would introduce me to who they thought would work best for me. Best decision I have ever made.
On day 1 I was introduced to Trent, and I immediately felt comfortable as I could tell he was good at what he does, and that he genuinely cared about what I was trying to do. We went over my first day goals, and he instantly started drafting together a plan that could get me to where I was wanting to go. We agreed to 2 sessions per week for 30 minutes, and I immediately felt the impact it was making. It wasn’t only the 2 sessions per week that he was providing, but he also coached me on the side (daily) with my nutrition questions, and anything else I would throw his way. He was very flexible with my unpredictable work schedule, and my favorite thing about him, was that he made it fun. I looked forward to going and learning from him. After our first 3 months were finished, it was a no brainer for me to sign up for another 3 months, and go to 3 days a week. In just six short months with Trent, I went from 193 pounds and 29% body fat to 170 pounds and 19% body fat. It felt effortless with how enjoyable he made the process, but we worked hard at it, and I will value my time with him forever. It changed my life, and I will always be thankful for how much I have learned from him.

At the beginning of my fitness journey I struggled to gain and maintain muscle and weight, so that was always something I wanted to accomplish. I had no clue where to start not to mention what to do.Before Trent my past experiences of fitness were a light treadmill walk and nothing else. While working with Trent I gained so much knowledge and insight about not only workouts, but nutrition and wellness as well. With weekly workout sessions and nutrition tracking, Trent showed me how easy a simple structured workout routine and diet could allow me to achieve and exceed my goals and expectations. I enjoyed how informative and helpful Trent is the most. Going to the gym as a beginner can seem intimidating, but Trent always made me feel comfortable working out. His positive attitude always made our sessions and conversations enjoyable knowing he was always eager to assist me.

I have been working out for years now and hit a plateau with my progress. I chose to get a trainer to help me over come that plateau, and to also, gain knowledge on the most effective exercises, and best diet suitable to my independent needs to helps me reach my overall goal over gaining muscle mass while also cutting body fat. Trent not only helped me with my goal but gave me an even better confidence. A great trainer is someone who wants it for you just as bad as you want it. That’s what make trent a great trainer. The cherry on top is that every question I have Trent answer them whether it be getting a new workout plan, or ways to change up what I’m eating while also maintaining my food intake goals. 10/10 recommend we were able to exceed the goals that I had!!

Trent was my personal trainer at Crunch Fitness in Tallahassee, FL for a little over a year. During that time my mood, drive and finances fluctuated and he stuck with me throughout, never trying to pass me off to another trainer.
Trent was always professional, accommodating, upbeat, and a pleasure to be around. I found him to be very focused on helping me achieve my muscle weight-gaining goals which sometimes felt unrealistic to me when I had bouts of self-doubt, fatigue, or low appetite. He never made me feel lazy, nor did he ever patronize me with undeserved praise, (which for many of us adults over 60 is worse than receiving undeserved criticism.)
Off and on over the past 20 years or so, I worked out with personal trainers at various gyms including '180 Fitness' in West Palm Beach in the early 2000’s; and Body Track in Tallahassee. I can say that Trent was among the best. I found him to be very well-prepared and enthusiastic each time we met. I came to respect him for his character as well. He never gossiped about anyone; always took responsibility for any miscommunications, and readily forgave my own delays or schedule changes.
As an older adult I felt very comfortable following Trent’s guidance because I could see he took into account joint health and cardio-vascular fitness. He listened to my concerns but didn’t treat me as if I were fragile due to my age, or any less capable than younger clients. That was a relief. (As I explained to him in one of my many rants, too often older adults are condescended to by younger people who forget that ‘old school’ means we did the same thing you are doing when it was harder, took more guts, or was illegal.
I appreciated Trent for seeing the bigger picture of holistic well-being. He had knowledge of dietary health, and understood the psychological component of fitness goals. When I was struggling with a bout of low self-esteem, he took the time after one of our sessions, to send me a thoughtful, well-written and encouraging text. It was exactly what I needed. No trainer had ever done that for me.
I will miss Trent, and I highly recommend him both as a quality person, and a quality professional.

Training with Trent was very beneficial to my fitness journey. I started out wanting to get in shape for a new job that required me to be more active than I was. I started out around 280 pounds. Trent helped me out by educating me on food and giving me resources to be able to track my meals. During our training sessions, Trent had me doing all sorts of excercises. From cardio to HIT workouts, weights and more. Every session, I was pushed to my limits but I started to see weight shed off. Eventually my training shifted from weight loss to performance. I saw myself get faster and stronger in the gym. By the end of my time with Trent (around 5-6 months) I was 220 pounds, with much more muscle than I started with. Even after I ended my training with him, I still felt like I could continue to lose weight and build muscle on my own. In fact I have lost 15 more pounds using the techniques he gave me. I would recommend training with him to anyone!

I was introduced to Trent when I switched gyms after being unsatisfied with my previous trainers and the equipment they had. This new gym had more than enough equipment but more importantly my training had become plateaued, and I was stuck at between 220lb-210lbs (down from 250lbs), trying to get down to 185-190 range. Trent immediately got me on a better calorie tracking program, began monitoring not only my calories but the "what" I was eating and making suggestions for alternatives on certain items I thought were "healthy". One of the stipulations I had for Trent regarding my training was that he had to push me hard. I like to train hard and out of my comfort zone; he never disappointed as most of my training sessions ended with me drenched in sweat and exhausted, of course he adjusts his training to his clients as I have seen him train young and old females as well as young and old male clients; our training was unique and on point to reach a goal that I requested. Trent helped me get down to my 185-190 range quickly and I have been able to maintain it for several months because of his training both in the gym and in the calorie/nutrition training he provided.

Training with Trent Martin was a game-changer for me. In just two months, I packed on 20 lbs of overall mass and gained 12 lbs of muscle—all while following a 3,000-calorie diet and training 3-4 times a week with him. But beyond the numbers, what really stood out was Trent’s energy and approach.
His optimism is contagious—always celebrating progress, big or small, and keeping every session engaging. He adapted workouts to fit my needs and made sure I was always pushing forward without overdoing it. Whether it was adjusting for equipment, limitations, or just keeping things fresh, Trent had it covered.
If you're looking for a coach who genuinely cares, keeps you motivated, and knows how to get results, Trent is your guy. Can’t recommend him enough!"

My goal was to lose weight and be functional more fit (not be out of breath going up the stairs, alleviate back pain). In order to achieve these goals, Trent formulated a training plan that fit my schedule, abilities, and weight. Trent is an amazing trainer, very knowledgeable and charismatic. I especially liked that Trent trained the whole person from nutrition to physical fitness to the importance of sleep and above all else Trent was understanding and treated me like a person! To be truthful, I was hesitant about personal training, I don’t like to exercise or eat right, and Trent and I are (appearance wise) polar opposites, I was afraid he wouldn’t be able to relate to me as a black, heavy set, female, but Trent broke down all those barriers by being caring, understanding, and flexible with my needs as a client. I would confidently recommend Trent to any and everyone!
